North East Mayoral Hustings: what can the new mayor do for transport?

Tuesday 5 March, 18:00-20:30

This event, jointly-organised by North East Public Transport Users Group, Newcastle University’s Centre for Mobility and Transport, and Insights North East will give the public of the North East the chance to quiz their candidates for North East Mayor about their transport priorities. Will they franchise the region’s bus services? Is dualling the A1 north of Morpeth a priority? What will they do for walking and cycling? This is your chance to find out!

The event will be chaired by Prof Phil Blythe CBE, head of Newcastle University’s Future Mobility Group and former Chief Scientific Advisor to the Department for Transport.

All six candidates for North East Mayor have been invited:

  • Kim McGuinness (Labour)
  • Jamie Driscoll (Independent)
  • Guy Renner-Thompson (Conservative)
  • Aidan King (Liberal Democrats)
  • Andrew Gray (Green Party)
  • Paul Donaghy (Reform UK)
